WHAT
Stradbroke Avenue is a feasibility study looking to maximise the potential of a site in Heidelberg and provide maximum benefit to the community through the integration of NDIS services and apartments, close to the Austin Health complex, in an area that is bordering health and residential services. Through this development the client was looking at bringing together facilities such as a clinic with consulting suites for allied health, occupational therapy, and small retail to activate the front and engage with the public, as well as short-term and medium-term accommodation wards and medium-term, two-bedroom NDIS High Physical Support apartments.
On a 1000 sqm site, the client was looking at concepts for a 6-storey building to house several functions.
2 Define came with the suggestion to use the natural slope of the site to house a lower ground floor for a car park, while the main access of the building for pedestrians, on Burgundy Street, engages the passers-by through small retail and front activation.
The upper levels are designed to house fully HPS-friendly 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments.
